KOTOR: The Movie

Tasting Notes

Ah, KOTOR. The best property in the Star Wars Extended Universe, now shabbily discarded by Disney in favor of filling in what was once an Epic with stories of rebels, scions, and other riff raff orbiting the tale of the great Skywalker clan.

KOTOR… where everyone and their butler has a light saber. Where you risk getting force choked at the local bar, but can work off your frustrations rampaging through wretched aliens with impunity. KOTOR of the grind, the duel, and the black humor. From the seemingly endless sidequests on sparsely populated planets to the hilariously funky character animations, a jewel of idiosyncrasy.

Don’t we all wish there had been a movie? Perhaps even three, instead of the entire prequel trilogy? Well, we may never get it from the studio, but…

Yes! Seven hours of KOTOR – well, the more recent The Old Republic, actually – and this is just the first installment, of a full-length Dark Side playthrough. Of course, there’s a Light Side playthrough as well, for the diehard Paladins among you.

No Netflix tonight. No Hawaii Five O on DVD. We’ll be watching Star Wars. The real Star Wars… the Star Wars of Galactic drama, non-existing facial acting, and bosses that go down in 3 hits of an area effect attack.

Say it with me and raise your saber high: KOTOR!
